Translation
In the mirror, no one is truly alone
Every word I say is not even mine
We thought this night was just about to end
What kind of night is this that there is no dawn?
If someone had playfully turned away
To say it correctly, my friend, this is not a trick

Explanation

In this poignant ghazal, the poet delves into the themes of isolation and the nature of truth in human interactions. The opening line, "आईने में कोई शख़्स अकेला नहीं होता," suggests that while one may appear alone, reflections in the mirror reveal deeper connections or the absence of them. The subsequent line, "मेरा कहा हर लफ्ज़ भी मेरा नहीं होता," speaks to the idea that our words may not fully encapsulate our true selves, hinting at a disconnect between self-expression and identity.

As the poem progresses, the speaker reflects on the night, believing it to be nearing its end, only to question the nature of the night itself with, "ये रात भी कैसी कि सवेरा नहीं होता." This line evokes a sense of despair, as the absence of dawn symbolizes a prolonged struggle or stagnation in life. The emotional arc shifts from a hopeful anticipation of change to a realization of enduring darkness.

The final couplet introduces a playful yet serious tone, where the poet muses about the nature of deception in relationships. The phrase, "जो कोई शरारत से किनाया किया होता," implies that even playful actions can lead to misunderstandings, while the concluding line emphasizes the importance of honesty among friends. The use of literary devices such as metaphor and irony enhances the emotional depth, inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences of connection and isolation.

Ultimately, this ghazal captures the complexities of human emotions and relationships, resonating with the reader's own experiences of loneliness and the search for authenticity in a world filled with façades.
