خودی کو کر بلند اتنا کہ ہر تقدیر سے پہلےخدا بندے سے خود پوچھے بتا تیری رضا کیا ہے
Elevate your self so high that before every destiny God Himself asks the man, what is your wish?

Explanation

In this famous couplet by Allama Iqbal, the poet urges individuals to elevate their self-worth and consciousness to such a level that they transcend ordinary limitations. The phrase "خودی کو کر بلند اتنا" suggests a call to enhance one's inner self or ego to a point of spiritual and moral excellence. By doing so, the individual reaches a state where even destiny is influenced by their desires, as indicated by "خدا بندے سے خود پوچھے بتا تیری رضا کیا ہے".

The imagery of God asking a person about their wishes symbolizes the ultimate empowerment and autonomy one can achieve through self-realization. This reflects Iqbal's belief in the potential of the human spirit to shape its own fate, a recurring theme in his work. The emotional arc of the poem moves from aspiration to divine consultation, emphasizing the transformative power of self-actualization.

Iqbal employs metaphors and a direct address to the reader, creating a motivational tone that inspires action and introspection. The use of simple yet profound language ensures the message is accessible, while the philosophical depth invites deeper reflection on one's purpose and capabilities.

This couplet is significant as it encapsulates Iqbal's vision of a spiritually and morally awakened individual, capable of influencing their destiny. It aligns with his broader philosophical and political ideas about the empowerment of Muslims in the Indian subcontinent, encouraging them to rise above their circumstances through self-awareness and determination.
