my blood for bloods sake
I give my blood for a reason.
ruby drops in the blue sky
Red droplets in the clear sky.
i stab my eyeball
I pierce my eye.
so that i may see truly
So I can see things as they really are.
what is wrong with human
What is not right with people?

Explanation

This poem grapples with the intense themes of sacrifice and the search for truth, encapsulated in the visceral imagery of blood and sight. The opening line, "my blood for bloods sake," suggests a willingness to endure pain for the sake of understanding or perhaps for the sake of humanity itself. The phrase evokes a sense of urgency and desperation, as if the speaker is willing to sacrifice their own essence to uncover deeper truths.

The second line, "ruby drops in the blue sky," presents a striking visual contrast, where the vibrant red of blood juxtaposes against the serene blue of the sky. This imagery can symbolize the clash between violence and peace, or suffering and beauty, prompting the reader to reflect on the complexities of human existence. The act of stabbing one's own eye in the third line serves as a metaphor for the lengths one might go to in order to gain clarity or insight, suggesting that true understanding often comes with pain.

As the poem progresses, the speaker expresses a desire to "see truly" what is wrong with humanity. This line encapsulates the emotional arc of the poem, moving from a personal act of violence to a broader contemplation of human flaws. The tone shifts from one of personal anguish to a collective inquiry into the nature of humanity itself.

The use of free verse allows for a raw and unfiltered expression of emotion, enhancing the impact of the imagery. The starkness of the language and the directness of the statements create a powerful effect, drawing the reader into the speaker's internal struggle. Ultimately, the poem invites reflection on the sacrifices made in the pursuit of truth and the often painful realities of human existence, making it a poignant commentary on contemporary life.
