Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
चाह नहीं, मैं सुरबाला के गहनों में गूँथा जाऊँ।
ḳhirad-mandoñ se kyā pūchhūñ ki merī ibtidā kyā hai
kabhī ai haqīqat-e-muntazar nazar aa libās-e-majāz meñ
koī ummīd bar nahīñ aatī
dil-e-nādāñ tujhe huā kyā hai
hazāroñ ḳhvāhisheñ aisī ki har ḳhvāhish pe dam nikle
وجود زن سے ہے تصویر کائنات میں رنگ
وہ اٹھے ہیں لے کے خم و سبو
