She Stood Above Me
She Stood Above Me Stephen L. Harrison
She stood above me. Not in judgment, no, but like a mountain peak catching the first light. I felt small then, a tiny seed at her root, wondering if I'd ever reach for the sun.
Love. It's the only thing that whispers what my heart is shouting. To my friends, the words are rocks, too heavy to lift, too rough to share. They wouldn't understand the storms that churn inside, the thunder that cracks without release.
There's no open door for this, no place to lay it all down except in the quiet. In that sacred space, where I can be just me with you.
It's not the thunder of God's voice, but the soft hum of angels, a heavenly melody that stills the chaos.
My eyes, they flicker— a moth to a flame, drawn to that singular heat: the fire of your presence, the sight of you that I crave.
A secret beauty, created by God's own hand, just for us. A landscape only we can walk. A breath only we can share.
Loyalty— love assured— holds strong. It endures.
As long as you are there— towering, a beacon, a safe harbour above me—
I ask for no refraction, no bending of the light to make this love appear as something else.
I ask only that the light stay on, that I may see us as we are— and that the curves above me remain.
