Our conversations scatter like bowling pinsâ
Our conversations scatter like bowling pinsâ they are loud on impact then gone in seconds with a hollow feeling and no laughter
we bowl alone now iPhones lit in our palms while others stand a few feet away the alley still calls us yet no one hears each other
the iPhoneâour hand-held friend that gives the illusion of companionship faces without presence voices as loud as you need or as silent as you want
somewhere in a past life bowling waited for Thursday nights when teammates came together to tell you it mattered
now we keep our score in silence our games are played alone and no one is watching you no one to tell you it mattered.
Our conversations scatter like bowling pinsâ They are loud when they hit each other Then disappear in moments Leaving an empty feeling And no joy
Now we bowl by ourselves With our iPhones glowing in our hands While others are just a few steps away The bowling alley still calls to us But no one listens to each other
The iPhoneâour portable companion That creates a false sense of togetherness Faces that aren't really there Voices as loud as you want them to be Or as quiet as you prefer
Somewhere in a previous life Bowling was something to look forward to on Thursdays When teammates gathered To tell you that you mattered
Now we keep our scores quietly Our games are played in solitude And no one is observing you No one to affirm that you mattered.
