IL PARADISO.IL PARADISO
IL PARADISO. - CANTO PRIMO. ARGOMENTO.
THE PARADISE. - CANTO FIRST. ARGUMENT. In the first Canto after the invocation to Apollo it describes how from the earthly Paradise he rose to the first heaven, and how Beatrice answered some doubts raised by him.
The glory of Him who moves all things penetrates the universe, and shines more in one part and less elsewhere. In the heaven that receives more of His light, I was; and I saw things that cannot be recounted by one who descends from above; for as one draws near to his desire, our intellect sinks so deep that memory cannot follow. Truly, what I could treasure of the holy realm in my mind, will now be the subject of my song.
