We will meet somewhere
On the dreamy roads of a strange city and in the sunlight spread on those roads
One day we will be together, brushing off the dust from the hours covered by the storms of time
Crying the same tears
We will meet on the green grass of thick forests and get lost in the stories of burdens on delicate branches
We will poke the eyes of ancient gods with the sharp leaves of pine trees
We will meet somewhere on the snow-covered mountains
Reciting poems in memory of mountaineers lying in barren graves
Who were the children of the mountains, and whom the parents embraced when the time came
We will meet somewhere at the festival of King Solomon, in front of the clear faces of those performing ablution on the steps of the pool
Placing feet on the marble-decorated floor, sighing, and freeing the trees from the threads of vows
We will meet somewhere on the shores of Normandy, seeing the marks of uniforms covered in the dust of travel
Smiling at the last words of a general returning from the center
We will meet in a world wounded by war
We will meet somewhere, amazed by the false stories of Russian tales, laughing at the elegies of the arrival of narcissus-eyed people of Syria, Lebanon, Beirut, becoming guests in the paralyzed mountainous areas of bloody disputes
We will meet in the possibility of being absorbed in the colorful civilization of a dead era
In the desolate lawn beside an old building
And in the deserted prison waiting for its captives for five centuries
We will meet under the umbrellas of desires, to hand over the pierced bodies by the bold kisses of the winds of wishes to the paths
We will meet emerging from the earth on a flying carpet in the eighth twelfth dimension
We will meet in a bar, holding the goblet of the remaining wasted life and in one gulp, we will drink this liquid
And until consciousness returns, we will sing songs telling stories of childhood that still amaze us
Beyond a house, on a bench lying empty for centuries in the uninhabited planet of desire
Where even death will grapple with us, but will only be a guest for a day or two.

Explanation

Tehzeeb Hafi's poem 'Hum Milenge Kahin' is a contemplative exploration of human connections across time and space. The poem opens with the image of meeting in foreign lands, suggesting a sense of longing and the inevitability of reunion. The poet uses vivid imagery, such as 'dreamlike roads' and 'sunlight spread on those roads,' to evoke a sense of nostalgia and the passage of time.

As the poem progresses, Hafi paints a picture of various settings where these meetings might occur, from dense forests to snow-covered mountains. Each location carries its own emotional weight, such as the 'barren graves' of mountaineers, symbolizing the intersection of life and death, and the 'Urs of King Solomon,' which evokes spirituality and tradition.

The emotional arc of the poem moves from a sense of longing to a reflection on the transient nature of life. The tone is both melancholic and hopeful, as it acknowledges the inevitability of separation but also the promise of reunion.

Hafi employs literary devices such as metaphor and imagery to deepen the reader's engagement with the text. The recurring motif of meeting 'somewhere' serves as a metaphor for the universal human desire for connection, while the use of historical and cultural references enriches the poem's texture.

Ultimately, 'Hum Milenge Kahin' speaks to the enduring human spirit and the timeless quest for belonging and understanding. It reflects on the shared experiences that bind us, despite the distances and differences that separate us, offering a poignant commentary on the nature of existence and the hope for reunion.
