Main Tenu Fir Milaan Gi
I will meet you again
Kithey? Kis Tarah? Pata Nai
Where? How? I don't know
Shayad Terey Takhayul Di Chinag Ban Ke
Maybe as a shadow of your imagination
Terey Canvas Tey Utraan Gi
I will come down on your canvas
Ya Khowrey Terey Canvas Dey Utey
Or as a shade on your canvas
Ikk Rahasmayi Lakeer Ban Ke
Becoming a mysterious line
Khamosh Tenu Tak Di Rawaan Gi
I will flow silently towards you
Yaa Khowrey Sooraj Di Loo Ban Ke
Or as a breeze from the sun
Terey Rangaan Wich Ghulaan Gi
I will dissolve in your colors
Yaa Rangaan Diyan Bahwaan Wich Baith Ke
Or sitting in the hues of colors
Terey Canvas Nuu Walaan Gi
I will sway your canvas
Pata Nai Kiss Tarah? Kithey?
I don't know how? Where?
Par Tenu Zaroor Milaan Gi
But I will surely meet you
Yaa Khowrey Ikk Chashma Bani Howaan Gi
Or as a spring of water
Tey Jeevan Jharneyaan Da Paani Udd-da
And the water of life will rise
Main Paani Diyaan Boondaan
I am the drops of water
Terey Pindey Tey Malaan Gi
I will fall on your village
Tey Ikk Thandak Jahi Ban Ke
And becoming a gentle coolness
Teri Chaati Dey Naal Lagaan Gi
I will touch your heart
Main Hor Kujh Nai Jaandi
I don't know anything else
Par Aena Jaandi
But I know this
Ke Waqt Jo Vii Karey Ga
That whatever time will do
Aey Janam Mairey Naal Turey Ga
This life will walk with me
Aey Jism Mukda Hai
This body will perish
Tay Sab Kujh Muk Jaanda
And everything will come to an end
Par Chaityaan Dey Dhaagey
But the threads of memories
Kaainaati Kana Dey Hundey
Are the threads of existence
Main Onhaan Kana Nuu Chunaan Gi
I will choose those threads
Dhaageyaan Nuu Walaan Gi
I will sway those threads
Tey Tenu Main Fair Milaan Gi…
And I will meet you again...

Explanation

In 'Main Tainu Fir Milangi', Amrita Pritam explores the themes of love, longing, and the transcendence of time and space. The poem opens with the speaker's declaration, 'Main Tenu Fir Milaan Gi', which sets the tone of a hopeful reunion, despite the uncertainty expressed in 'Kithey? Kis Tarah? Pata Nai'. This uncertainty is juxtaposed with the imagery of becoming a shadow or a color on the beloved's canvas, suggesting a deep connection that transcends physical presence.

The speaker imagines various forms of existence, from a breeze of the sun to drops of water, indicating a desire to merge with the beloved's essence. Lines like 'Yaa Khowrey Sooraj Di Loo Ban Ke' and 'Main Paani Diyaan Boondaan' illustrate the speaker's yearning to be part of the beloved's world, emphasizing the fluidity of love and connection. The poem's emotional arc moves from longing to a profound acceptance of the inevitable passage of time, as seen in 'Aey Jism Mukda Hai' and 'Par Chaityaan Dey Dhaagey'.

Pritam employs rich metaphors and vivid imagery, such as 'Ikk Rahasmayi Lakeer' and 'Khamosh Tenu Tak Di Rawaan Gi', to evoke the depth of her feelings. The use of natural elements like water and light symbolizes purity and the essence of life, enhancing the poem's emotional resonance. Ultimately, 'Main Tainu Fir Milangi' reflects Pritam's belief in the enduring nature of love, suggesting that even as physical forms fade, the connections forged through memories and emotions remain eternal. This aligns with Pritam's broader literary themes of love and loss, making her work timeless and relatable across generations.
